Record Numbers Attend Foster Friends’ 2016 Storybook Family Day

One hundred sixty-two foster children and substitute caregivers turned out for Foster Friends’ 2016 Storybook Family Day event in September.  Foster Friends hosts the event annually at Storybook Ranch in McKinney.  Feedback from foster parents has indicated that Storybook Family Day is a favorite among Collin County kids in foster care, and this year’s record turnout indicated the same.

The event began with a tractor ride to an old western village, where children were immediately greeted by ponies and cowboys.  Families then posed for professional family portraits, explored the western village, and played in the bounce house before watching a Wild West show.  After a BBQ lunch, the children competed for prizes in a dance contest and selected fall pumpkins to take home from the pumpkin patch.

Foster Friends puts on several fun free events throughout the year to give victims of child abuse and neglect the chance to be kids.
